There are a few brands and items that the producers of MCR favor. You will always find a Mackie 1604 of some variant in our studios, as well as older digital Yamaha synthesizers such as the SY-55, SY-77, and at one point an associate was using an SY-22 as well.
Effects processors don't matter so much as long as they have a halfway decent sound. They must have good echos and rich reverbs. Most of our bands have never been "hide behind the effects" anyway, our philosophy has always been to have good gear up front and not waste a ton of money on FX.
